My Biography

I was born and raised in South Africa and after finishing high school there, I obtained anundergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Michigan and a Mastersdegree in Communications from Regent University (formerly CBN University) in VirginiaBeach. I also spent 2 years at Fuller Theological Seminary studying missions, leadership training and church growth in Pasadena, CA. Following those studies, I also did my doctorate with Vision International University. I married up, snagging Lisa Gilfillan in 1985. For those who know her, she is a standup comic and way too intelligent for her own good. We have one adopted son Anthony (23) and two daughters, Christina(22) and Jessica(19).

Lisa & I worked from 1986-9 with the ministry of Reinhard Bonnke in what was West Germany at the time. I headed up Bonnke’s television ministry and Lisa the publications department. During those years, we travelled the world and saw millions of people find faith in Christ. We were burdened, however, with the task of discipling all the new converts.

In 1991, we started the missionary ministry of Good Shepherd Ministries, International. From 1992-4 we were missionaries in the country of Nigeria where we pioneered theconcept of church based video Bible schools. In about 18 months, we registered 4,500students and started 140 schools.

We returned to CA in 1994 to begin the development of the International School of Ministry (ISOM). This project sometimes referred to as “the training equivalent of the Jesus movie”. This is a high technology video training curriculum that can be used in any language onearth to disciple people and to train leaders for the ministry. Teachers on the curriculuminclude Joyce Meyer, Reinhard Bonnke, Marilyn Hickey, John Bevere, Jack Hayford, DickEastman, Dr. T.L Osborn and about 25 other well-known Christian leaders.

In my free time I enjoy golfing, praying, blogging, video production and photography. I am on the board of The Rock Church and World Outreach Center, a 22,000 member congregation in San Bernardino, CA.
